Product Description
In China Maitreya is known as "the laughing Buddha" and is usually represented as a rotund figure with a happy disposition. His Chinese name is Pu-tai Ho-shang or "Hemp-bag monk". He is originally a fertility figure who was known to bring "goodies" in his bag to local townsfolk, especially children. Later, he became a pre-incarnation of Maitreya. In Japan he is called Hotei and is one of the seven lucky gods.

The seller of these statues was wonderful to work with - I purchased 5 sets of them and sent out an e-mail asking to be reimbursed a little bit for the shipping, he responded quickly saying that he would look into it and then did!
My only issue with the purchase would be that the statues were slightly smaller then I thought they were going to be. I do not know if there is a standard size for them or not, but these are a bit smaller then the ones I had purchased from elsewhere. (Still works great for me though!)

When I ordered this product, it was a present for my husband. When we received the shipment, I realized it was smaller than I thought originally. All the pieces have a loop on them for a necklace.I would not have purchased these items if I had known this. I am not happy and my husband's surprise was ruined.
This is the second time I had to order these items. The first time was from another website and was never delivered. I was excited when I found these items on your website. I will still order from your website, but I have learned to be careful about the size.
